Custom app development: web apps, MVPs and prototypes

Ignition Labs designs and builds custom web and mobile applications – from a clickable prototype through an MVP to an app running in production.

We work with entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized companies and founders in Slovakia who need to validate an idea or turn a specific process into working software.

Most often we step in when an idea has no first version yet, when a half-built app got stuck, or when a working prototype is not ready for real operation.

The scope, price and deadline of the first version are agreed in writing up front, development is led by a founder with more than ten years of experience, and we deliver the first working version in 21 days for the agreed scope.

    What we build

Custom app development at Ignition Labs means an application built around your main scenario – what the user really needs to get done – rather than around a list of every feature that might be useful one day.

    • Web applications (frontend and backend) usable on mobile and desktop
    • Apps for Android devices, including POS terminals
    • MVP – a first working version to test the main scenario with real users
    • A clickable prototype to show the flow to the people who will use it
    • Customer portals, booking and ordering systems
    • Connecting the app to payments, APIs, devices and cloud services

MVP: who builds a first version of an app in a few weeks

A first working version (MVP) is an app in which the main scenario really works: data is stored, users log in and the result can be used in practice. It deliberately does not include everything – we add further parts once we see how the first version is used.

At Ignition Labs we first define together what belongs in the first version and what stays for later. For a scope agreed this way we deliver the first working version in 21 days; if the scope turns out to be larger, we split the work into stages and agree a deadline for each.

How to validate an app idea before investing in full development

    Finishing a half-built application

If you have an app started by another vendor, an internal team, or one you built yourself with AI tools, we can take it over. We first go through the code, the data and the environment it runs in, and name what works, what is missing and what is risky.

Only then do we agree the scope: sometimes it is enough to finish a few scenarios and deploy, sometimes rewriting a part is cheaper. We make that decision together and in writing, so you know what you are paying for.

    Review before production

A prototype or proof of concept that works for a demo may not survive real operation. Before launch we therefore check login and permissions, data handling and backups, behaviour under errors, deployment and running costs.

The result is a list of what has to be finished before going live and what can wait. We distinguish between a prototype, a POC, a pilot and production – and for every project we say openly which stage it is in.

A proof of concept is not production

    How the collaboration works

Four steps from the first conversation to delivery of the first working version – the same for every service.

    1. STEP 1

      We clarify the goal

We go through the problem, the users and the outcome the first version should deliver.

    2. STEP 2

We agree on scope and price

We define what will be part of the first version, what stays for later, and how delivery will work.

    3. STEP 3

We build and show progress along the way

We go through the development together so that unclear points and feedback can be caught early.

    4. STEP 4

We test and hand it over

We verify the agreed user scenarios and prepare the handover according to the agreed scope.

We deliver the first working version in 21 days. The timeline applies to the scope of the first version agreed in writing beforehand; larger projects are split into stages.

    Price and timeline

We have no flat price list. The price follows the scope we define in step two – the number of user scenarios, roles, integrations and operational requirements. You receive the exact price, timeline and handover terms in a proposal before work begins.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does custom app development cost?
We set the price only after we have defined the scope of the first version together. It is driven by the number of user scenarios, roles and permissions, integrations, data migration, design and operational requirements – not by the number of screens. You get the exact price and payment terms in a proposal before work begins.
How fast can you deliver a first version?
We deliver the first working version in 21 days for a scope agreed in writing beforehand. If the brief is larger, we split it into stages and agree a deadline for each.
Do you also build mobile apps?
Yes. Most often we build web applications that are fully usable on mobile and desktop without installation. For work with devices, such as POS terminals, we also build Android apps. We agree which approach makes sense when defining the scope.
Can you finish an app that someone else started?
Yes. We first review the code, data and environment and tell you what works, what is missing and what we recommend reworking. The scope of the completion is then agreed in writing, just like for a new project.
What do I get at handover?
A working app according to the agreed scope, and an overview of how it is used and where it is deployed. The scope of the handover – exactly what you get, including access and code – is always agreed in writing before work begins.
Do you use AI during development?
Yes, we use AI as a tool to speed up our work. Solution design, technology decisions and accountability for the result remain with people.
Do I need a technical specification to start?
No. A description of the problem you are solving today, an idea of who the app should serve, and someone on your side who can answer questions about scope is enough.
